In one of our most prestigious projects to date, Cool Logic were appointed by the M&E contractor to carry out the supply, installation and commissioning of the air conditioning systems to 5 Cheapside, a prominent octagonal building overlooking the historic St. Pauls Cathedral. The building is part of the property portfolio of Amsprop – Lord Sugars’ privately owned Real Estate vehicle.
The refurbished building extends to over 40,000 ft² over 7 floors and now benefits form Toshiba VRF heat recovery air conditioning systems throughout. 24 slim ducted fan coil units on each floor are connected to 7 heat recovery outdoor units which are situated in the 7th floor plant area.
Each system is controlled via a centralised controller which monitors the installed equipment and relays information back to the Building Management System. In addition, automatic refrigeration pump down systems are installed to all equipment to ensure minimal refrigerant loss in the event of a system leak. The use of such systems enabled the client to claim valuable BREEAM credits for the refurbished building.
Due to the central location of the site and the near non-existent delivery and storage space, the whole installation had to be meticulously co-ordinated with the main contractor and all other trades to ensure smooth day to day running of the site.
As Cool Logic are fully accredited Toshiba Air Conditioning Partners, the whole installation benefits from a 7 year parts warranty as well as eligbility for The Governments Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme (ECA). This scheme enables building oweners to benefit from favourable tax incentives for the installation of energy efficient equipment.
Now complete, the building has been fully let to a single client. We have subsequently worked with the clients’ fit out contractors’ to carry out minor modifications to the air conditioning system to suit their own layout needs.
